Foundation
Sharing the love is a huge part of what we’re about. The success of Coffee Culture has been built on the back of great young people giving their guts to provide out of this world service and make great coffee. And we all know about the struggles of the families who live with third world challenges on the plantations that grow beans for those of us lucky enough to be born into.
So, in 2010 we launched the Coffee Culture Charitable Foundation with two distinct aims. The first was to support young people in our communities to achieve their full potential. The CCCF makes scholarship grants of $500 available to teenagers every year to help them in pursuit of their goals. To date we have supported the following activities: swimming, BMX racing, freestyle waterskiing, theatre, music, leadership, cycling, and surfing. The young people we help are amazing and we expect to see them do great things in the future.
The second aim of the foundation is to raise funds for projects in Papua New Guinea. We source our green beans from plantations in PNG and our Master Roaster Mikey Palmer and Sumner store owner Glenn Rewi have recently visited the communities that surround these plantations to learn more about the ways we can help with their education, health and social development opportunities.
To raise funds for the CCCF we encourage guests to donate their change into the buckets at each store, and our owners donate proceeds from special products and events.
